Before We Loved Poem by Mary Nagy

Before We Loved

I hadn't known
what was missing
yet I felt the emptiness.

I hadn't dared
to dream
yet I felt the yearning.

I hadn't asked
for comfort
yet my pain was obvious.

I hadn't known
what love was
until you walked in.

I hadn't really
lived...
before we loved.
