Beggar's Belief Poem by Daniel Murphy

Beggar's Belief

Yesterday is gone
Look forward to tomorrow
Yesterday I had to beg
Today I have to borrow.

Today is gone
Tomorrow is nearing
In hours to come
No judging, no sneering or staring.

I’ll buy myself new clothes
A bag and shoes to match
I look forward to tomorrow
No road to walk or bus catch.

I’m going to spoil myself
It’s what I so deserve
I’m glad I bought that ticket
No more sleeping on the kerb.
