Beginnings Poem by minette irsay

Beginnings

tousled curls
morning words
lips on lips on lips
fingertips, toes, the day unfurls

caress my face
you say my name
pledge your love
shake off the sleep

i rise to your touch
and you to mine
we start the day
each stroke a melody

once we are spent
the day begins in earnest
stumbles fumbles trips to the kitchen
coffee brews and talk begins

we touch again
kiss and smile
relish the morning
before the world intrudes
