Behind The Trigger Poem by Ariel Miles

Behind The Trigger

My hands are freezing
Shaking
Now I'm still
thinking
of the decision I'm making
Eye to Eye with my enemy
or innocent bystander
Realizing I approached the problem
real mild-mannered
I'm thinking of the family
that he'll leave behind
Everything is running through my mind
After I'm done
I'll just bury.45
but why
when I'ma have to hide
Thinking of how wrong it is to commit
black on black crime
But they don't see it in my eyes
I stand here
a black male
ready to shoot another nigger
But now my brain froze
my body stiffened
as I stand behind this trigger

Good poem. A moment's hesitation...a good thing...or a bad thing? Dee
