Believe Poem by Heart of Ice Die Die Die

Believe

Hey sweetie,
it's me!
I'm in your head,
making you bounce off the walls.
I promise to help you stop
I promise to not make you cut
I promise to always be there for you
I'll always listen when you need to talk
They were all just
empty words to you,
and to me.
I never believed
you would follow through.
Too many people have left me
for me to belive.
Why should you be different?
But you're not.
Good thing I'm used to it,
huh?
The pricks and burns
are losing their edge,
they don't sting so much.
You used to numb them out,
now you only have
salt to throw in the gashes.
I get it,
you dont' want me.
Story of my life.
I have to do this on my own.
I just wish you were here
to see how hard I'm trying,
how hard I'm trying for you.

Many people condemn poems about self harm. I don't. I know its a horrible thing to go through whilst also contemplating the fact that you might be insane. I've been through lots of doctors appointments to try and get some sort of medication but they think my depression/bipolar tendencies will recede. I feel the pain through your words and your vulnerablity is aired by the colloquailism of 'sweetie' that is chilling and shows how you aren't in control of your life. Continue writing because it may help with your depression.
