Beneath Glastonbury Skies Poem by Millie Fraser

Beneath Glastonbury Skies

Rating: 5.0

When dawn seeps over the night,
Like cool water over ice,
Listen for the cracks as the stars burst.
They rained down,
And we were covered in the glittery grit.
It scratched at our skin,
And left dirt under our finger nails.
We laughed in the dust,
Our feet stamped the ground harder,
And our arms reached up further
In our attempt to stretch our bodies
And satisfy the greed.
When sunlight burns the eyes
And catches in the throat,
We falter,
As our knees shake
And bones shiver.
Our breathing slows as we sleep,
And the lingering dust
Quietly settles in our lungs.
