Bereavement Poem by Parray Shahid

Bereavement

I stay bereaved
By a past so indelible,
Knowing no single interstice to escape,
To guide a soul out of misery;
That surrounds me like a savage tempest
Locking every other door that exists;
Deafening every single voice that arises
From the conscience of intimate shadows;
That shall not leave me
Betrayed, forsaken
Single, against the whole…
