Bereft Poem by Pen Anthony

Bereft

One red
Two red
Three red

She nips the roses
Holds them above her head
'A white one ' she says
Her face glowing like a new moon
As she goes to nip it

She stops and calls her mummy
Drops the flowers and lets out a cry
Her tiny hand on her left ankle
Two tiny pink dots appear to swell

She falls in her mother's arms
And whispers' mummy it hurts '
Her face becomes pale as her eyes shut.
