Betrayal Poem by David Harris

Betrayal

There are times when you look around
at what you used to call friends
finding they were not friends at all,
but only lurking around to find
something to betray you with.
They make up stories and coheres
others into believing they are true.
You think you have their trust,
but they are just gathering information
to use against you someday.
However, when their bubble bursts
you begin to look distrustingly
at everyone you know.
This kind of betrayal has consequences
that are not always noticeable.
When the betrayer wants a favour
and finds no one to seek help from,
the betrayer then finds the one
they really betrayed is themselves.
