Betrayed Love Poem by Elizabeth Jacqueline Mpanga

Betrayed Love

Rating: 5.0

Never in my entire life did I ever imagine you,
You of all people would hurt not only my heart but my spirit too,
What intense love we shared and what flaming hate you grew for me

Many a night I prayed to ask God to show me what I did wrong to make you hate me,
You say you don't hate me then how then would you hurt me so?
If not hate then what would have made you spite me this much?

I thought if I let you have your way, you would see my love,
My love for what it truly was. Many nights I prayed that you remember me,
Remember me as the same girl, who always made you laugh,
The same girl who cried with you when you despaired

How can such a strong love easily turn into so much hate?
I came to you and tried to make you remember me,
Just in case you forgot that I am the same girl, whom you promised to love,
And to always respect and care for no matter the weather or circumstance

I knelt before you in plain view and begged you to forgive me for whatever
You didn't even look at my face, didn't even offer me your hand and I struggled to stand up
You looked away and walked off,
I stood there and watched you walk off as your form disappeared into the distance
And took my heart with you…..

'Many a night I prayed asking God to show me what I did wrong to make you hate me, You say you don’t hate me then how then would you hurt me so? If not hate then what would have made you spite me this much? ' A very relatable situation and a nice write... Thanks for sharing Elizabeth..

yes betrayal gives us much pain, but when love betrays us life becomes gloomy, well-expressed passions, i enjoyed reading the poem
