Between Affection and Affliction

How cruelty an affection is,
When friend becomes foe;
And bigot start to wish,
Our love ended in woe.

How cruelty an affection is,
When virtues become vices;
And lover separated from bliss,
A conspiracy arises with malignant prices.

How cruelty an affection is,
If it impel and laid sins;
How strong the malice aforethought kissed,
Love will eventually win.

There! little girl; don't cry!
They have broken your doll, I know;
And your tea-set blue,
And your play-house, too,
