Between Brothers Poem by G J Salgado

Between Brothers

Come little brother don't be sad,
Just think of all the good times we had.

I know you looked up to me,
I wished now that you could see.

That I'll always be watching over you,
I won't tell anyone about the bad things that you do.

I'm just kidding with you little brother,
We had a bond between us like no other.

I taught you things I hope you understood,
Good and bad, how to be a man it was within our brotherhood.

I realize that those times are now in the past,
Hey even Superman isn't meant to last.

I couldn't live on forever but know this,
You are forever in my heart and the times I will miss.

For you hold a special place that I hold dear,
So keep your head up and let go of the fear.

Look up and see me as I am among the sky,
I'll be watching and protecting you as I fly.

Hold on to the laughs we shared and the craziness of it all,
You still have a lot of laughs in you so don't allow yourself to fall.

But just in case you do,
I'll be there to pick you back up again, I promise you.

I know it feels like you can't breathe and you feel you've just taken your last breath,
What we have between us is a bond that cannot be broken by death.

It is unlike anything in the world and something I didn't have with any other,
The meaning of everything beyond and in between of being my only brother.

Remember the good times, all of my funny pranks, jokes, and don't forget to laugh a good long while,
Because that is all I ever wanted, you know I don't like tears or sadness all I want is to see you smile.

So remember me and all the memories that I left for you behind,
We are only separated temporarily by distance and time.

Never let go of the moments just like I said,
Watch the skies you might see streaks of blue and red.

I may have left you far too soon but keep in mind and understand,
I will always be here for you only in a different way as I live on like the hero I am... Superman!
