Beware... Poem by Sharon Smith

Beware...

Rating: 5.0

I went to buy some shoes one day
Not a lot did I have to spend
Or rather, this is what I thought
Before I got to my journey's end.

I walked past a pile of rubbish
To find a man searching within
Did not know what he was looking for
Just noticed the state he was in

The first thing I saw..no shoes on his feet
Oh I knew I needed to ask
How could I put it so delicately
This was an awkward task.

I just walked straight up..excused myself
'Can I please buy you some shoes? '
He just glanced around and said 'No thanks'
Left me standing without any clues.

I couldn't walk away from him now
His feet so cold and bare..
'Please let me buy you some shoes..Oh do
Even just an inexpensive pair? '

I had walked right up behind him now
The question I'd asked was the same
'I'm sorry if I've embarrassed you..
this was certainly not my aim'

He stopped what he was doing then
Stood still for just awhile
Slowly he turned around to me
Oh this Time..such a smile!

He looked at me..right into my eyes
A look on his face so strange
He was talking about what I had said..
'Don't you EVER..change! '

To this day..I remember his Words
His smile..so familar it be..
You have informed me since..that it was..
'An angel with a message for me'.

'Beware of who you entertain as you may have entertained one of My angels unawares..'
