Beyond Young Poem by Erika Wingo

Beyond Young

Rating: 5.0

Tell me,
Is it summer?
I have not seen the sun for weeks
Although I've heard
The sun is shining,
I cannot feel it on my cheeks
I gaze out into the world
And to me it looks dark and gray
It's like I am colorblind
The blues are here to stay

A restlessness seeps
Into my soul
And bleeds into my heart
I pull myself together
And it pulls me back apart
My body is still young
But my spirit is so old
While the breeze blows warm
Around me,
Deep within I'm so cold

The isolation and loneliness were described so neat. My earnest wishes are there to come out of this.
