Bible Stories: Job (Chapter V) Poem by Dr John Celes

Bible Stories: Job (Chapter V)

Rating: 5.0

Will none respond to your sad call?
To which one holy, you appeal?
Impatience truly kills the fool;
Resentment slays the simpleton;
Fool rooted strong has lost household;
His children are far from safety;
No one will rescue them when crushed;
Their harvest goes to hungry ones;
Or God shall destroy it by blight!

For, mischief comes not from the earth,
Nor troubles from within the ground;
Man’s sparks of mischief fly upward;
If I, I will appeal to God;
I’ll send my plea to Him instead;
He gives the rain to earth’s parched fields;
He lofts the humble to high slots;
The ones who mourn are protected;
The plans of wily run chaos;
They cannot reap success as planned;
The wise are caught in their own tricks!

Designs of crafty never work;
Darkness prevails during daytime;
They grope at noon as if night-time;
God saves the poor from death by sword,
And from the hands of mighty ones.

The ones in despair do have hope;
Happy’s the man whom God reproves!
Although, He wounds, He bonds the same;
His divine Hands will heal the hurts.

He saves you from six troubles first;
When seventh’s comes, evil can’t touch;
In famine times, you shall not starve;
In war, your life will be preserved;
Impending ruin needn’t frighten;
From scourge of tongues, you stay concealed.

God will provide in times of want;
You need not fear the earth’s wild beasts;
Your tent and house-hold are secure;
Your offspring number like earth’s grass!
You shall not fear when death invites;
This we have heard and you should know!
