Bittersweet Poem by Casey Gochnour

Bittersweet

I can feel the distance becoming,
Nervous, my heartbeat drumming.
Punching my soul with every beat,
It’s true that love’s bittersweet.

As days go on and I know the pain,
Your love alone keeps me sane.
Oh how you revitalize me with love so pure,
I need your affection; my one and only cure.

But I can feel the distance becoming,
Forever nervous, heartbeat always drumming.
Punching my damned soul with every beat,
It’s true that love is fucking bittersweet.

Your beauty outshines all of the rest in every way,
And I’m reminded about it every single day.
Whenever I see your face with that smile,
It keeps my gears moving for an even longer while.

‘Cause you’re the reason I’m living, the reason I’m dying,
You’re the reason, my all I’m giving, the reason I’m trying…
My chest rises and falls at your voice being heard,
Your name passes over my lips, my only sacred word.

But I can feel the distance becoming,
I was nervous, heartbeat was drumming.
My soul is beaten, and continues to be beat,
Isn’t it crazy how love is bittersweet?
