Bittersweet Cupcakes Poem by Alecia Nak

After you left me sitting on the bench,
I thought to myself, when will the numbness in my heart wear off
we yelled we cussed we did things to compromise
everything melted through our fingers quickly
tears fell out of my eyes but you only saw blocks of ice dripping down
I wasn't ready for what you had in store for us
it just made me so emotional and you got me into tears
when you find the right spots to always to take control
I don't know what you do just to make me so emotional and vulnerable
I tell you to just STOP yelling for a second
cause I'm sick and tired of your selfish ways
thinking about how it all started
nothing came out but the thought of that bittersweet taste
thoughts swarm me and making me think...
I want to tell him 'I love you' I wanted to hold him
one more time
I never saw it coming but the walk down the shop
got me thinking of a bittersweet cupcake, the taste
was so unpleasant; unpleasant like the words that came
out of your mouth that night;
all you had in store was a bad taste of sweets
you got me feeling so high but now its just beyond what I could feel
I can't even describe how you just hold me; leaving me with
hot air....
now I'm alone late at night just without you baby
I will thank you for inspiring me and lighting that fire inside me but
some nights the fire burned so low; I had nothing left to say
only just the thought of you baby
every taste of sweets left inside my mouth taste bittersweet
cause your not here; I don't know yet but it takes
time for me to adjust
but the confusion of the taste that's left inside
makes me think of you....
the one that left the bittersweet words left inside my heart
eating that cupcake will never taste the same without you
baby, it's not the same
it's killing me late at night and some nights I cry alone
late night thinking about you baby
I don't think I can handle this relationship.... no more
