Black Beauty Poem by Sudipta Bhattacharyya

Black Beauty

Your eyes are black & dark
Like the darkness of Death.
Who are you, Night's Lady
To give me your departing kisses?
Your blood is not cold or icy
Like Death's shadow;
Yet your black appearance
Is not veiled......

You drag me close
To your dark lips;
As if my heart is pricked
By your dark lips' biting!

How can you give me
Such venomous pricks?
Go away! Go away!
Make your darkness veiled!
For my heart shudders,
For my heart bleeds.

Yet I want your darkness;
Your black lips' poison
To sweep away forever
The darkness of my heart.
