Black Guitar Poem by Tommy Twilite

Black Guitar

transparent flash maple grain
creme binding and those mother of pearl
kluson style knobs
hot open coil humbuckers too
a heavy metal dream
that’s fading
to black

what could I do?

For months, I wanted you
craved everything about you
obsessed over your finish
carried your weight
like some elephant appendage
bragged how you slipped through my fingers
agonized how you ripped me off
told all my friends
that you were mine

how do I let you go?

How should I know?
if anything it’s about the look
it’s about letting go
I couldn’t play you now anyway
I would have given you away ten times
for what I paid
if only I could have held you
for one last shining second
in my arms
