Blame Poem by Amanda Swain

Blame

Time is no stranger to hatred
As we blame it for the death of our love
Waste not away in fury so red
Blame not time or the Dove
Because of your lack of farewell
Blame not yourself for a crime
When all know that you did well
Blame not the passage of time
It is not quick to feed
Blame not the mind’s eye unfound
When you are to blame for the seed
Of the despair that you ground
Of the ocean of tears
For the lies that they died
For each of their fears
For the times that they cried
You are to blame
For their death and the attempt
All is to say
We blame you and your contempt
