Bloodlust Poem by David Harris

Bloodlust

Rating: 5.0

I sit at my desk and wonder,
why people do the things they do.
Why do they go on killing one another,
each and everyday?
Some say that it is for religion.
I dismiss that fact.
I cannot see any God
wanting you to kill another because of them.
All the religions that I know of,
urge respect between our fellow man.
Therefore, the reason they do it
must be personal from what I see.
The individuals involved must love suffering,
get a kick out of the pain they cause.
They have a bloodlust
and kill to make themselves look big.
They think that killing gives them power,
it doesn’t,
it only shows them as weak.
They are cowards
because they have to do it in groups.
The one person who stands up to them
has more power than they will ever have.
Oh, they may kill the mortal form,
but the spirit they cannot kill.
It will inherit someone else.
The person with a great spirit
will be welcome at heaven’s door,
while those who want to kill
will be devoured by the devil,
living in his kingdom for evermore.

Let's face facts David, it's part of human nature to fight, that will never change ever, some where in the world there will always be a war... Sad Fact but true...

Well, I hope this isn't a metaphor piece written from experience on the wars that go on within families and sadly amongst friends. It's sad David, but well written as you are so capable of doing. People kill one another every day with a word or even just a look OR, lack thereof either. Just landed coupel hours ago. needed to get away last week so off I flew to an island in the Bahamas. I hope you didn't think I forgot you......marci.xoxox~~~~~~[ I didn't take it as Mr Ryan, who retired from here, did...but I'm not as deep as he is nor do I write about Religion or religious views as such, I saw it as I wrote herein, perhaps because the war between people is the greatest of all to me]

Spot-On my tale-telling friend...The only Holy War ever faught(in my Good Book) is 'The War of The Heavens'...And to this day there have been no holy wars faught here on earth......Revelatons says that will change in the ene run....but we'll have to wait on that one...still if it all be true, once again it would be a War ion the end as it was in the beginning, and between tha same two forces, yes? This is a great analyzation of what too many have attempted to justify in taking up arms against those who don't look like, or believe like they do! I tend to look at & write to the abstract slant(you may have picked that up...heh, heh, heh) Spell war backwards....bacause thats it's real visage & consequence.....and could there be anything Holy about that? Solid Work, as always, David... ~ ~ ~
