Blue Bird Poem by Ashley Fortin

Blue Bird

Rating: 5.0

I looked out my window and saw a blue bird,
Rememebered that even his happiness was absurd.

I lost my best friend yesterday,
I couldn't find find the words to make her stay.

I broke the ring my lover gave me,
Right after his boat was lost at sea.

My only daughter left for college today,
And I won't see her again till next May.

My car broke down on my way to town,
And the closest mechanic was a long way down.

In the waiting room I saw a news show,
My business building just collapsed no survivors found that they know.

The man beside me said,
'Thank the Lord... you'd have been dead.'

I had to words to reply,
I simply waited for the repair to be done as I let out a sigh.

On my way home I drove slowly,
Thought about today and how the lucky one was me.

Tragedy had struck me,
I had lost all faith in God... but then I thought about today, now I see.

It could have been a mircale,
Maybe it was God?

Who knows whats up there in the sky,
Maybe there isn't anything and we're all just waiting to die.

But while I'm living here I know I'll do the best I can,
Because when I die I hope to know I did the best I someone ever can.

To live a good and long life even if I cry alot,
I'll strive to make the friends and strangers smile Iike I've been taught.

And hope that for one more day I'll live to see another way,
A way to hear the blue birds sing with happiness they can only bring.
