Blue Bird I Long To See Poem by Tirupathi Chandrupatla

Blue Bird I Long To See

Lovely Indian roller
With blue crown and vent
Breast colored brown
I always long to see.

It sat on a branch
Or flew with a flair
Turning the sky blue
Filling me with joy.

Display of its flight
Was always a delight
It excited my senses
When I was a boy.

At my childhood place
I wished to see it again
I could not find one
Despite my intense search.

I would like the bird
To thrive in its habitat
And provide the thrill
With all its aerobic feats.

Some of the birds that thrilled us in our childhood are no longer there! Most of them have become extinct and some are in the verge of extinction! We sadly miss them! Enjoyed this poem of nostalgic longing!
