Blue Daze Poem by Lance Carthen

Blue Daze

You drink all day
You smoke all night
Staring at your face
But there's just fright
When you were growing up
You knew what you had to do
Thirty years later
Its like you got no clue
Sittin at the bar
Your in the mood
Drinking all day
Smoking all night
And its so easy when your blue
The steps that youve taken
It had to be you
Its so easy when your blue
When you get so sad
You dont feel bad its true
Its so easy when your blue
You just go along, along, along
Driving down the road at 3 A.M.
Everyone's asleep but youve just begun
Stopped at the old house where you grew up
Lost in memories for hours
Until you blew up
Smashing your bottle in a million shards
You find yourself in your old backyard
Broke and tired and feeling used
You dont know what to do
But its so easy when your blue
The steps youve taken it had to be you
So easy when your blue
When your so sad
You dont feel bad its true
Its so easy when your blue
You just go along, along, along
