Blush Poem by Sucheta Sarwan

Blush

Rating: 4.3

We spoke like lovers,
A year and counting you said; laughingly.
We stood bare in front of each other,
Although we did not share the same bed,
Nor the same city, nor the same moment.
We laughed and talked till late into the night,
Experienced being with each other,
When we weren't.
It almost came as surprising as a box of magic pops,
When we did get a chance to be together,
We couldnt, and I understand you were busy.
But I understand that it wasnt our time.
And how I craved for you to blush, as you used.
But I understand, like I always do.
But eventually I will drift away,
And you will always be in my heart.
Yesterday, just like some days ago,
You blushed like just like you used to,
It did not feel like I used to,
Although, I was the reason.
I realise that we probably wanted different things,
Always; and how I acted so gullible.
You whispered sweet nothings,
And I lost a part of myself.
Keep it with you,
It will always remind me of your gentle touch,
The way I felt your eyes hovering on my body,
Your hands doing the same.
You probably wont even care as much as you used to,
Or I dont know if you ever did!
If everything always was just a farce,
I say probably, because that's me hoping.
Hoping it were as true for you, as it was for me.
Hoping I meant more than something for you too,
Hoping I'm not the only one sobbing at night,
Although I know it doesnt matter anymore,
Nothing should.
