Boardwalk Memories Poem by Sam Pendlebury

Boardwalk Memories

She sat quietly in her chair
So many memories with him she shared
Some one pushed open a door,
In came the cold winter air
Back she go's to a time with him
Locked in his arm, all bundled up against the wind,
Ankle deep in the boardwalk snow
like in a snow globe
It blew all around
They where so in love that night,
If they really tried they could have taken flight
Two heart's that in love should never part

Decisions made very long ago, now realized in hast
The love they shared, foolishly slipped away
Like winter turns to summer, then one year to the next
Time just stepped aside, and for them sadly passed by
She stands here now, on that very same spot
Where they held each other tight
Ankle deep, snow blowing all around,
Bundled up against the cold winter night
Tears flow easily down her cheek, to the wooden boards below
If only they held each other a little tighter
She knows now they could have spred there wings and
Taken flight
