Body Talk Poem by Kimberly Burnham

Body Talk

Rating: 5.0

Autoimmune
cells fighting their neighbors
a multitude of languages
purposes needs misfiring
across the walls
built up
on purpose
are cells willfully
stealing precious resources
taking from the abundance
that lay in a body universe
all around

The selfish gene
drawing in life giving oxygen
red blood cells busy
carrying nutrients to a few
ordering the taking
of precious breaths
for how long will they say
I need all of this
there is not enough
a narrative
swirling in the chaos
molded by demands of life

Looking but not seeing
across a share space
in the beauty of this universe
another individual human system
carbon based life form
cells are talking, laughing even
as each cell takes its needs
the nutrient rich pipelines
flow from head to toe
the difference a few meters will make

As one merges
with the universal needs
of the oneness
who are you
which one
which universe
satisfies your wholeness
today?

A healthier more peaceful planet sounds good to me...and yeah, I'm in all three of those books myself...
