Bridge To Burn Poem by cheryl davis miller

Bridge To Burn

Seems we long to turn the corner,
for a new start in life we yearn.
Leaving today to start afresh,
find now there is a bridge to burn.

We'll leave the past; far in the past,
thinking we leave it all back there.
Only to find, the past comes too,
we wallow in same sad despair.

We think again, to change our course;
reverting to the old pattern.
Turn the corner realizing,
we have another bridge to burn.

Please don't hasten a door to close;
or cause this journey to adjourn.
Else you may find at end of day
there's yet another bridge to burn.
