You sit alone in your room;
your mind wanders
to the sound of a tune.
A tune that was a hit
so long ago when you were young.
You remember the first time you heard it,
and where you were at the time.
Suddenly a memory springs
from the back of your mind.
Coloured lights and dancing feet
move across your mind.
Your wish now is
bring back the time.
Bring back the days
you remember so well.
Days when there was
a new dance craze every week,
when groups played instruments
before the synthesiser was born,
when songs had lyrics
that everyone could sing
and a tune everyone could hum.
Bring back the teenage time
before the years flew away.
Now in reality I sit and smile,
wishfully thinking I could
bring back the time.
I think this happens more and more has you get older, when you love the things of yesteryear...10

Yeah, and did we really appreciate it back then David? I didn't. Ah life... wasn't it wonderful... you bring it back David. It's locked there inside of us, and I think it's healthy to connect with it. I listen to the songs too, and though they're heartbreaking, there's a beauty in what they bring to life. How do you pass on the significance of that reality to kids who are living it now though? Great writing. Touched this heart. jim
