Britannia Poem by David Barlow

Britannia

Rating: 4.3

Britannia smiles o’er Lakes and Hills
Such beauty never seen
It takes your breath
It makes you proud
Of Green and Pleasant Lands

To know her is to love her
And arouse thy generous flame
With matchless beauty crowned
And manly hearts a pound.
Britannia is my lady my inspiration to.

Britain has always been my 'adopted' country...the beauty, the differences in locales, especially Wales...what a wealth of legends(?) has come from this gorgeous Wales. The ultra long history Britian has...all combined in this poem. I'm with Marci...beautiful tribute! Love this.xxElysabeth

A lovely tribute here...Is Britannia in your National Anthem? Something makes me think it is but that is going back to a room mate in prep many years ago...Had one from France too and I know this is not that for she taught us it in French....Well, am most likely off the mark here but I do love this one....I hope you write more poems to share here............marci. :)
