Broken Poem by Ashley Kenny

I know how you feel
empty and betrayed, not even happy
wanting to laugh because you know it will help
not wanting to cry, it only makes you feel worse
you feel like your heart is falling apart
and soon you life will too
you don't think it will ever end
no matter what the he has done to you
it feels impossible to stop loving him
and everyone wonders why if he has hurt you so much
and why do you care
that's the confusing part
you don't know why you just do
and then in a few weeks you feel some relief
starting to get happy again
but deep inside you know its denial
after a few more weeks
you're back to an empty soul and teary eyes
you thought you were over him
but you just stopped showing it
he left deep scars on your heart
that are there forever
no one understands how you feel
how deep you hurt
no matter who they are
because every heart is different
you are all alone
and the feeling begins to overwhelm you
then you break
right there
because you've had enough
the tears start flowing
and you no longer care who see's
because you have spent too many nights lying awake
and so many days being haunted by these scars
and you know these tears
aren't helping any
it won't bring him back
after the tears you've cried
you pull it together
and keep going
your eyes burn with the tears you hold back
everyone says 'it will be ok...'
but you know it won't
you look back on all the hurt he caused
and realized people are horrible
you're still hurt
but you hide it
so everyone thinks you are okay
now when you see him
you know you still love him
and you yearn for him to love you too
and you look back and see
it was him who caused all this to me
