Broken Poem by Khaleel Steir

Broken

The man you look upon is broken
He can no longer stand the blows he must endure
He struggles to stand from the beatings of this world
There are no bruises, no physical contact yet he's been broken
As he watches the girl who has walked away smile with someone else
Though, he is not jealous nor does he envy him
A rage boils within with the force of the hulk and the anger of a god
How could I be shackled to love her so yet she refuses to love me back?
Why do I feel as if I'm a hamster running on a wheel chasing a reward that's not there.
When the signs and voices tell me it's pointless
When the body cries out this battle is long over
Why can't this fairy tale have it's happy ending, end with me getting her?
The sight of my dreams, are worse than being in hell
Or is this my hell I've been condemned to.
