Broken Wings Poem by Kaytee Zephyr

Broken Wings

Rating: 5.0

Hear these words
I’ll tell you everything
I know each word will sting
Just listen
You know I’m not okay
And all the things he did
God, I was just a kid
Heaven forbid

If I say a word
Like he loved me so
Don’t fathers do?
Like I love you

You touch me soft
Wipe the tears away
Tell me that I’m okay,
Do anything
Please don’t leave
You know that I have cried
Bottled this up, put aside
And denied – Heaven forbid

If I say a word
Like he loved me so
Don’t fathers do?
Like I love you

Still hear those words
Flying on these broken wings
Winded like a broken bird
I'm telling you everything
Everything
