Brooklyn Poem by Annie Janine

Brooklyn

Rating: 5.0

and all the cement that restricts me
melts away 'cause I can see
beyond the glistening sidewalk
to the birds and the bees

but this city is all that I am
from the bright lights to the sand
summer days at coney island
snowy nights I walk hand in hand

with my brother he holds me tight
in the darkness of the night
against our parks big christmas tree

the faint scent of alcohol
surrounds the snow flakes as they fall
the only blizzard of my life time
i was just a small child

but the memory i hold dear
like that small but present tear
that trickled down my face
as we left that lovely place
and moved out to brooklyn
