The atmosphere - I can see my breath tonight
It's been so long since I could let
the numbness make it right
Involuntary jerks
and knee jerk reactions
these are the minute details
that make up a fraction
of
A Midnight in September
Let this post-modern response
help you remember
when
We helped each other fight
the numbness
of course unless forgetfulness
is what helps make your night

You know it will be a brutal morning.
