Burdened Poem by Melissa Thomas

Burdened

I don't understand
I don't beleive
How easily you could do that to me.
You said you loved me and you were sorry you left;
but you jumped the gun and took my last breath.
I didn't even know you were on the earth
because you weren't there when my mother gave birth.
I gave you a chance to get to know me.
I wound up on the ground crying in the pain.
No one knows what you turned out to be.
How did you feel? Mighty and tall
I didn't tell a soul
I didn't even hint
what you did to me.
I don't understand
I don't beleive
The burden you left on me.
