Burglary (1988) . Poem by Dennis Green

Burglary (1988) .

When an easy smile
hides a dark and frowning heart
and words of candy floss
are as poison to the soul.

When malice dons a mask of good intent
to deceive the trusting innocent.

Where motive is manipulation
it does break and enter the spirit,
and kindness
will shrink frightened from this thief.
(Lonely weeping in its grief.)
