Busker On Penny Lane Poem by Orville Phillips

Busker On Penny Lane

Jingle-jangle played the guitar man –
strumming a song – he’s a Beatles fan.
Singing “Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”,
on Penny Lane he would always stand.
It’s summertime, so he’s got a tan.

It’s hot, a dropp of sweat down his cheek ran;
he smiled, wiped his cheek – then he began.
“Paperback Writer” is in big demand –
Jingle-jangle…

He played a medley,10 minutes its span –
but “Strawberry Fields” wasn’t in the plan.
Admirers shout, “I wanna hold your hand”,
and his clinging wife doesn’t understand.
He loves his guitar, and the way she can
Jingle-jangle…
