Bustling Through The Night Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

Bustling Through The Night

Bustling through the night
Night's activities
Concerts, private shows in
Hastings Gardens, love-making,
Wine-imbibing and
All the rest of the list.
Woods that move the heads
Of their trees
To right, to left
From the God-like eye
You the Earth not sleeping
Quite
But lighted with millions
Of lights and motions
Millions of emotions…
The glades provided
A streamlet flowing down
Electric shots magical
Into the waters
Burst and then
Lo! The fountain la belle!
An emotion is burnt at
The stake.
Another emotion is
Crucified on a cross
Just outside Valletta.
Gallows magical
And from them
Hanging satyrs
Naked
Martyrs
All for a fountain!
Come! Come! Before
The night slips
At the bar of the Moon
There's honeysuckle wine...
