Butterflies (Remix) Poem by Snake Blocker

Butterflies (Remix)

Not a good first impression on my part.
Not a good second impression on yours.
But we both gave it a chance,
We ended up with a butterfly romance.

I got along with you like I had known you my entire life.
You had a heart of gold and lips as sweet as strawberries.
We laughed for hours—we talked all night.
We saw the good in each other.
You had the colors of a butterfly.

You understood me better than most.
You knew I wasn't too smooth with my words,
But you saw past all that.
You saw my intentions were good.
You and I formed our cocoon.

You would drive from Hollywood in traffic just to spend a few hours with me.
We never worried about what we wanted to do.
We never worried about where to go.
We just went and did; and always had fun together.
Never was there an awkward silence, only butterflies in the stomach.

I was a bit rough. You were sweet and kind to all.
You would put up with people I wanted to hit.
When I would confront the Persian fool you put up your walls.
In your silence you flew away.
You left me alone in search of my butterfly.

Am I at fault or was it never meant to be?
You should have known what I stood for.
You should have known what I wouldn't stand for.
Doing nothing would have been harder for me to live with.
But a butterfly cannot survive in chaos—
So I let you fly away!
