Butterfly Nights Poem by Rik Bertrand

Butterfly Nights

All my life I have been dreamless,
My path has been straight and seamless.
I lie myself down at night and close my eyes,
And wake in the morning with dreamless whys.

I have prayed every day to experience the night,
To fly through the universe, in weightless flight.
To swim under the ocean without taking a breath,
To venture to the old times and battle Goliath.

A butterfly flew in and landed on my breast,
It settled its wings and it lied down to rest.
Its body gave me warmth as it covered my heart,
I closed my tired eyes and the miracle did start.

Butterfly Nights, Butterfly Nights, filled my whole world,
Happiness evolved and the worldly colors swirled.
Fantasy driven thoughts filled my dream driven mind
And all of my past losses were returned in Kind.

My butterfly sleeps lightly on my breast every night,
And when my sleep comes, my dreams take flight.
Thanks you sweet butterfly for being the one who cares,
For being my savior and answering my prayers.

REB (AUGUST 2012) because butterflies inspire dreams
