By A Locked Toilet Door Poem by Francis Duggan

By A Locked Toilet Door

In this Town there is only one toilet and that is not open all of the time
And to find bowel comfort or urinating in public can be looked upon as a crime
And those caught in such acts by the police can be lumbered with a heavy fine
I know of one caught by the law urinating by a locked toilet his problem can one day be mine.

My sympathy is with the poor fellow what was one like him for to do
The toilet locked due to vandalism and no toilet nearby to go to
Due to the crime of someone else he has been punished to me that does just not seem right
He answered the call of Nature by the locked toilet door under the street light.

Through no fault of his own he must live with the shame
And he does not deserve to have this black mark on his name
A locked toilet door in a one toilet Town
Has caused him embarrassment and ill renown.

Booked by the police and last week on court day
A conviction against him a big fine he must pay
By a locked toilet door with his face to the wall
He was booked by the police for answering Nature's call.
