Caged In Poem by Kelly Abbey

Caged In

Lips pressed against these cold bars
Of this mind numbing prision
Yearning for what can never be
Hands firmly grasping
This steel entrapment

I fight to release myself
Arching back my body
I scream with fury
Never to break free

Defeat has begun to flood over me
Breaking the ducts of my eyes
The tears release onto my cheeks

Slumping down now....
Against these unrelenting bars
Slowly tearing at my flesh
As I make my decent
To face this certain defeat
