Caged In Love Poem by Tanner Herndon

Caged In Love

We are murderers:
Killing the air between us, with our sharp laughter-
Sometimes we knife-fight verbally,
With our sharp switchblade tongues cutting
Each other's feelings, we retreat to solitude,
Licking the wounds.
Usually, we try hard to murder with laughter,
Happiness, never having a result, but coming close-
I've almost died a few times looking in your eyes,
My heart, simply couldn't handle it
A beauty too intense...surreal,
It seemed almost animal,
I never want you to feel caged, my love
You're too beautiful for this world,
We deserve you not,
For we are ugly.
