Call You Woman Poem by Gordon D Wilkinson

Call You Woman

You pluck the petals of my love, one by one
Discarding them without a thought
Only intent on my inner core
Somewhere for you to play
Drain dry
Eventually throwing away
Why do I let you do this?
Maybe my love is pure and free
No barriers to hold you back
Just simple love
Taking everything that’s thrown at it
Asking but without conviction that you reciprocate
Yet knowing you would rather play
Jumping from one carnival ride to another
Chasing the excitement
Never counting the cost
Uncaring of the broken petals
Instead grinding them into the earth as you leave
Worse than any bee that raids but leaves intact
Destruction be your name, woman the gender
