Can A Machine Love Poem by John Fenton Mcleish

Can A Machine Love

In my life I've had many a dear love
But I took drugs, drank and pushed them away
Some as beautiful as a pure white dove
But I sinned and my heart was led astray

So much arrogance and hate in my soul
I had no feeling for anyone else
One day I woke and found somebody had stole
Abandoned friends that I had left on the shelf

I've got nothing left now for she's all gone
Flew the coop, didn't really have much choice
For I was so bad and did treat her wrong
But how I miss her beauty and sweet voice

Koestler said there's a ghost in the machine
I understand now just what he did mean
