Can Any One Please Answer Me? Poem by Mousheera Shafik

Can Any One Please Answer Me?

Alas! How did I do this to you?

Alas…..!
What a pain….!
Can't tell how aching it is,
Can't depict the torment um going through.

How did I do this and when?
When my tears were only effaced by you..! !

OH…! Oh,
Am I a human?
Am I….! ! ?
And if I am.. how could I ever stiffen on you?
How can I be described?
How can I be?
Can please any one just answer me?
What reflection in the mirror am I supposed to see?
That beautiful face of a beautiful soul that I used to be?
Or such a scorned stupid thing that is so wee?

Believe me…
I can bear taking all the blame,
In order to get back the same,
And if you can feel me no more,
I won't blame you at all,
It'll be just like a cut within,
It'll be a petrified gore,
Will never heal, but always aches.

Ah, not even these million tears that um crying,
Will stifle this combustion in my soul and dying…
How could she live any longer?
How? And she committed your heart a murder.
No, I swear..
It wasn't my soul,
No, I swear..
It wasn't her at all.

Tell me any thing to do,
and I'll do it right away.
I'd do anything for you,
To steal your pain away.
I don't want to let go of you,
Um praying with servility that you could stay.

The most arduous thing…,
Is that the voice in my ears.
It's your enduring voice,
But um giving you the choice,
To love, or love me not,
Here is where I light my spot…
You have the absolute right to love me no more,
But even if you did,
You'd always be the one whom I adore,
I'd always live by your existence even if you're miles and miles away.
You'd live within me each and every single day.

The last thing um hoping….,
Think it again,
Cease this pain,
Swallow your pride,
Within you, pleas let me abide,
Unlock your heart,
It's tearing me apart,
Drop your guard,
In my guilt um so ward.

There is nothing left to say but this….,
UM SO SORRY I HURT YOU,
UM FEELING SORRY EVERY JIFF,
And the most sure thing is,
I LOVE YOU,
UM MISSING YOU EVERY DAY
MY LOVE... FORGIVE ME,
AND I PRAY..
