Can'T Escape Poem by Chris Todd, Jr.

Can'T Escape

Trapped in this place,
Helplessly hoping,
Of what could be,
Only to feel the hollowness,
Inside of me,
Words mean nothing anymore,
A gentle hello,
A sad goodbye,
Or even,
I love you,
All empty,
Meaningless,
Shadows of confusion,
Thoughts twisted and bound,
Of what I’ve become,
Confiding in reason,
It’s all just a matter,
Of living,
The lie that is life,
The emptiness fills me,
As I realize it’s not what it seems,
That life isn’t what I thought it was,
And now I’m all alone,
It’s just me,
Even as I stand in,
A crowd of people,
All that loves me,
And all that I hate,
Surround me just the same,
So I drink to escape,
The hell that is my life,
But it’s all the same,
Immune to the drugs,
There is no escape…
