Can'T Go Back Poem by Mark Boyle

Can'T Go Back

It started out so flawless,
we thought it would never end.
But lately all seems different.
I feel I've lost what was once a friend.
We used to go together.
Then we got serious, as they say.
Then came a fan fair wedding.
I smile when I think of it today.
Were we naive or just too young.
I guess it's all the same to us.
What once was flawless and perfect.
Has now crumbled into the dust.
If only I could go back,
Un-say whatever that I said.
The words that must have ruined,
this partnership we'd made.
But it's never that simple.
It's not one thing but all we've done.
You can't undo the hurt and pain,
or the magic that we've lost.
