Can There Be A Greater Love? Poem by Olanrewaju Adeyemo

Can There Be A Greater Love?

Can there be a greater love?
For a father to let go his only son
To die for the sins of the world
When he himself is sinless and righteous.

Can there be a greater love?
For a son to be biddable to his father
Even to the point of debase death
For the transgressions of His friends.

Can there be a greater love?
For a lion to be lead as a lamb
Though he was powerful but never fought back
But submit to the humiliation of His enemies.

Can there be a greater love?
For Him to put aside His royal crown
But accept the thorn that made Him bleed
Just for the sake of redeeming the world.

Can there be a greater love?
For Him to bear that heavy cross
He was beaten and lacerated just for my misdemeanors
Though He is holy and righteous.

Can there be a greater love?
For Him to be hanged between the criminals
Paying for the misdeeds He never committed
Even offering prayer for the offenders.

In love He has risen
Now sitting by the right hand of the father
Our advocate before His father
All these He does in love
There can't be no greater love.
